Carleys Organic Foods
We are very aware of the importance of allergen control in our factory.
Nine of the key allergens are not ever present in our processing room at our new factory at Great Wheal Daniel. These are:
- Cereal containing gluten
- Lupin or products thereof
- Milk or milk derivatives
- Soy beans
- Molluscs and products thereof
There are four other known common allergens that we do process. These are:
- Nuts / Nut Oil or Nut Derivatives
- Sesame Seeds
Of course everyone will be aware that, for example our, Almond Butter contains nuts! Even so, all of our products are marked to show what allergens they contain. Not everyone will know that there is sesame in hummus for example.
We declare on our labels that our products are made in a factory that processes the four key allergens shown above.
We only use peanuts in our peanut butter.
We do not store allergenic ingredients in the processing room.
Other non-FSA allergen: Tomatoes
We use tomatoes in our organic tomato relish and some other products. We show the information on our allergen information sheet, as we know several people do try to avoid eating tomatoes.
We do not use organic wine vinegars in any products. This is made from organic wine which can contain a small amount of sulphur dioxide, though at a very low level compared to non-organic wine. Even so we avoid the risk!
All of our processing and filling equipment is fully dismantled after each production run, and cleaned very thoroughly.
A downloadable PDF Allergens Information Sheet can be found here >Downloads<
On our labels we show ingredients that are allergens in bold, and then after the ingredients in the various languages we use we say: "Allergy Advice: For allergens, see ingredients in bold ■ Allergie Conseils: pour les allergènes, voir ingrediénts en gras ■ Allergie informatie: Voor allergenen, zie ingredienten in het vetgedrukt ■ Allergie-Hinweis: Für Allergenefinden Zutaten in Fett ■ Allegi Bemærk: For allergener, se indredienser i fed ■ Consejo de la alergia: Para alérgenos, ver ingredients en negrita."
